Safeguarding Policy
Effective date: 28 September 2025
Reviewed: Annually or sooner if legislation or practice changes.
1. Our Commitment
Your ADHD Home is committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive environment for all clients. We believe that everyone, especially children and vulnerable adults, has the right to be protected from harm, abuse and neglect.
Although our primary work is with parents and caregivers, we recognise that information shared with us may raise safeguarding concerns about children or vulnerable adults.
We take these concerns seriously and act in accordance with our legal responsibilities and statutory guidance.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all work carried out by Your ADHD Home, including online sessions, home visits, telephone consultations, and digital course communications.
3. Recognising Abuse and Neglect
Abuse can take many forms, including:
- Physical abuse
- Emotional or psychological abuse
- Sexual abuse or exploitation
- Neglect or failure to meet basic needs
- Coercive control
We remain alert to signs of these forms of abuse and act promptly if concerns arise.
4. Responding to a Safeguarding Concern
If we become concerned that a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk of harm:
- We will listen carefully and without judgement.
- We will record factual information and relevant details of the concern.
- We will discuss the concern with the individual (where appropriate) and explain that confidentiality cannot be maintained where there is a risk of harm.
- We will contact the relevant safeguarding authority – this may include:
- The Local Authority Children’s Social Care team
- The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)
- The Police if there is immediate danger
If we are uncertain about whether a referral is needed, we will seek advice from the local safeguarding board or NSPCC helpline (0808 800 5000).
5. Record Keeping
All safeguarding concerns and actions will be documented clearly and stored securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and our Privacy Policy.
6. Safeguarding Lead
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for Your ADHD Home is:
Jenefer Livings – Founder
safeguarding@youradhdhome.co.uk
Jenefer is responsible for ensuring this policy is followed and reviewed annually.
7. Training and Awareness
The DSL will maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices and attend relevant training where appropriate.
8. Review
This policy will be reviewed every 12 months or following any safeguarding incident or legislative update.
