Confidentiality Policy

Purpose:
This policy explains how we handle and protect any personal or sensitive information shared with us during consultations, assessments, or communications.

1. Our Commitment

We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and privacy. All personal information shared with us is treated as confidential and used solely for the purpose of providing support and advice.

2. What “Confidential” Means

Anything you share with us – written, spoken, or digital – will not be disclosed to anyone else without your consent, except in the circumstances listed below.

3. Limits to Confidentiality

We have a legal and ethical duty to share information if:

  • We believe a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm.
  • You disclose information that suggests a serious crime has been or will be committed.
  • We are required to do so by law or court order.

Wherever possible, we will discuss this with you before sharing information, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.

4. How We Keep Information Secure

All notes and records are stored electronically in password-protected, encrypted systems accessible only to authorised personnel.
We retain information only for as long as necessary to provide services or comply with legal obligations.

Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.

Sometimes we may need to share limited information with other professionals (for example, with your permission, referring you to a specialist or support service).
We will always obtain your explicit consent before doing so.

6. Data Protection Alignment

This policy works alongside our Privacy Policy and complies with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
